BORN HULL 1884. SON OF WALKER MITCHELL & ELIZABETH CRESSEY (FORMERLY MITCHELL) (1853-1928), OF 11, HINDS TERRACE, KELDGATE, BEVERLEY (CWGC ADDRESS). HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS.

EMPLOYED AS A GOODS PORTER, BY THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS, FOR 14 YEARS. HE BOARDED AT 9, DOROTHY GROVE, NEWINGTON STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS).

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, IN SEPTEMBER 1914. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 725, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED ACCIDENTALLY ON 21/09/1918, AGED 31. BURIED AT TERLINCTHUN BRITISH CEMETERY, WIMILLE.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 03/10/1918. *

HE IS LISTED ON THE WW1 MEMORIAL, ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, NEWINGTON, HULL

HIS ONLY SURVIVING BROTHER, PRIVATE, ARTHUR, MIITCHELL (EYR) SERVED FOUR YEARS IN FRANCE.
