BORN HULL 1871. SON OF FRANCIS MOORE (1822-1871) AND MARY ANN FOX (1845-).
A FORMER SOLDIER WITH THE 3RD EYR AND A HULL POLICEMAN. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 8 INCHES TALL, 38-40 INCH CHEST, 158 LBS WEIGHT.
HE MARRIED EDITH DOUGLAS (1873-1950), AT HULL, ON 17/12/1892. HIS WIFE EDITH MOORE, AND SIX CHILDREN, LIVED AT OF 2, FLEET STREET, STEPNEY LANE, HULL. (ARMY ADDRESS).
EMPLOYED BY MESSRS THOMAS HOLMES & SONS, TANNERY, SCULCOATES LANE. ALSO A POLICE RESERVIST AND A PROMINENT SPORTSMAN, SPECIALISING IN SHORT DISTANCE PIDGEON FLYING. HE WAS A MEMBER OF A NUMBER OF SPORTS CLUBS AND ACTED AS A SECRETARY AND TIME KEEPER.
HE WAS CALLED UP ON 28TH JANUARY 1915, WHEN HE REJOINED HIS OLD REGIMENT, THE 3RD EAST YORKSHIRES, IN WHICH HE HAD SERVED FOR TWO YEARS AND FOUR MONTHS IN THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAR.
HE WENT TO FRANCE ON 18TH OCTOBER 1915. TRANSFERRED TO THE 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. PROMOTED CORPORAL, ON 10/03/1916. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 20/07/1916, AGED 44.
HE LEFT A WIDOW AND SIX CHILDREN. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 174 DAYS.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 08/08/1916.
