HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 23/10/1916. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 2 INCHES TALL, 34.5 INCH CHEST, 113 LBS WEIGHT. CALLED UP FOR SERVICE, ON 06/03/1917. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 03/01/1918. SERVED WITH “X” COMPANY, IN THE 1/6TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 29/03/1918, AGED 20. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 159 DAYS.
