BORN SCARBOROUGH 1888. SON OF RICHARD ELSWORTH NICHOLSON (1854-1923) & SARAH ANN NICHOLSON (1858-1946), OF 101, WORTHING STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND A SISTER.
PRIOR TO WAR, HE WORKED FOR DARPERS, MARSHALL & SNELGROVE, OXFORD STREET, LONDON (1911 CENSUS) AND WAS AN ASSISTANT FOR CRAFT & CO, DRAPERS, BEVERLEY ROAD.
ENLISTED HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRES. A CAPABLE BOMBTHROWER. HE WAS KILLED ON PATROL, ON 30/09/1915, AGED 27.
HE LEFT A £153 IN HIS WILL TO HIS FATHER, RICHARD, AT THIS PROBATE ADDRESS.
HE LEFT A SISTER, FLORENCE, AND BROTHERS, GEORGE AND ERNEST NICHOLSON.
HIS DEATH AND PHOTOGRAPH WERE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 4TH OCTOBER 1915, AND IN THE HULL TIMES, ON 9TH OCTOBER 1915. *
