BORN HULL 1890. LIVED AT 38, CRESCENT STREET, GRIMSBY. SON OF CHARLES BROWN POWELL & ANNIE ELIZABETH POWELL AT 8, GRANVILLE TERRACE, CHURCHILL STREET, HULL. A FORMER SHIPS JOINER.
HE ENLISTED IN GRANTHAM, LINCOLN, ON 29/02/1916. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 04/11/1916. SERVED AS SAPPER IN THE 400TH FIELD COMPANY, ROYAL ENGINEERS. TAKEN PRISONER ON 24/03/1918. DIED 04/11/1918, AGED 28. HE WAS KILLED BY A BOMB FROM A BRITISH AREOPLANE, WHILE PULLING BARGES AS A POW. HE HAD SERVED FOR TWO YEARS AND 240 DAYS.
HE LEFT A BROTHER WILLIAM AND THREE SISTERS.
