BORN DRIFFIELD 1896. SON OF JOHN EDWIN & KATE (PETCH) RAILTON. BEFORE THE WAR HE WAS A JOINER HELPING HIS FATHER.
HE VOLUNTEERED FOR SERVICE AGED 17 AND HAD BEEN IN FRANCE FOR 16 MONTHS BEFORE HE WAS WOUNDED. HIS OLDER BROTHER FRED WAS SERVING WITH THE HULL COMMERCIALS.
HE IS LISTED ON HULL TECHNICAL COLLEGE ROH & THE RAMC MEMORIAL WENLOCK BARRACKS.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, WITH HIS PHOTO ON 25TH SEPTEMBER 1916.*
HE IS BURIED AT HEILLY STATION CEMETERY, MERICOURT-L’ABBE, SOMME, FRANCE
