BORN HULL 1897. SON OF CHARLES SELLERS (1865-1937) AND CHARLOTTE VICTORIA HASTROP (1868-1955), OF 23 PENNINGTON STREET, SPYVEE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A GENERAL LABOURER. THE FIFTH OF TEN CHILDREN. HE JOINED RECKITTS ON 14/02/1911 & PLAYED IN THE WORKS FOOTBALL TEAM. HE ENLISTED IN HULL DURING OCT 1915. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 4715, 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS IN FRANCE FOR ONLY 6 WEEKS, BEFORE BEING WOUNDED. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 19/09/1916, AGED 19, AT NO:3 HOSPITAL. BURIED AT ST SEVER CEMETERY, FRANCE. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, CHARLOTTE AT 23, PENNINGTON STREET, HULL (PENSION LEDGER ADDRESS).
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON THE DANSOM LANE MEMORIAL, HULL AND LISTED ON THE ST MARKS STREET, ROLL OF HONOUR.
HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, J. SELLERS, (EYR) WAS AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL IN 1917. BEFORE THE WAR, HE WORKED FOR EARLES SHIP BUILDERS AND HAD SERVED IN FRANCE FOR TWO YEARS AND NINE MONTHS. (HDM 07/11/1917).
