BORN HULL 1881. SON OF ISSAC MRS ANN E. SPENCER, OF 5, MANCHESTER PLACE, WAVERLEY STREET, HULL & 7, EMERALD TERRACE, CAMPBELL STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN. HE WORKED AS AN OIL MANUFACTURER AND BOARDED IN GRIMSBY (1911 CENSUS) AND 14, BROOKLYN CRESCENT, WORTHING STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 16/08/1914. SERVED AS BOMBARDIER, IN THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. KILLED IN ACTION, AT YPRES, ON 20/02/1916, AGED 35.

HE LEFT HIS ARMY EFFECTS TO HIS MOTHER ANN, WHO WAS “WHOLLY IMPAIRED”AND BROTHERS, WILLIAM, ROBERT, JOHN, ARTHUR AND HERBERT.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 01/12/1916.
HE IS BURIED AT RAILWAY CHATEAU CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “NOT FORGOTTEN”
