KILLED IN ACTION, ON 15/04/1918, AGED 19. HE IS COMMEMORATED AT THE LOOS MEMORIAL, FRANCE. UNMARRIED. HE LEFT HIS ARMY EFFECTS TO HIS MOTHER ELLEN, WHO HE SUPPORTED WITH HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, ARTHUR.
HIS FATHER ALBERT EDWARD STRAKER, WHO HAD SERVED IN THE 5TH ROYAL IRISH LANCERS FOR 12 YEARS, LEFT THE FAMILY IN 1911 AND EMIGRATED TO MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, IN 1912. HE SERVED AS A SERGEANT IN THE AUSTRALIAN LIGHT HORSE AND DIED OF HEART FAILURE IN BRIGHTON, VICTORIA,IN 1919, AGED 42.
