BORN HULL 1900. SON OF WILLIAM THOMPSON (1865-1939) & BERTHA EMMA JACKSON (1873-1963), OF 4, HARLOW ROAD, HIGH WYCOMBE, BUCKS (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HIS PARENTS WERE BORN IN LINCOLNSHIRE. HE HAD ONE BROTHER, LESLIE JACKSON THOMPSON.
SON OF A RAILWAY STATION MASTER. AT 137, STEPNEY LANE, HULL. HIS FATHER TOOK UP A SIMILAR POSITION FOR THE GREAT CENTRAL RAILWAY AND MOVED HIS FAMILY TO HIGH WYCOMBE.
HE WAS EMPLOYED BY LLOYDS BANK AT THE HARLOW OFFICE.
HE ENLISTED AT HIGH WYCOMBE. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 68278, DEVONSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 2/4TH SOMERSET REGIMENT. DIED OF GUN SHOT WOUNDS TO THE ABDOMEN, ON 31/07/1918, AGED 18.
HIS NAME WAS INSCRIBED ON THE STONE PILL MEMORIAL AT ST MARYS CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE.
HE IS BURIED AT SENLIS FRENCH NATIONAL CEMETERY, OISE, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “A LOVABLE AND MUCH BELOVED SON GOD BLESS HIM”.
