BORN HULL 1892. SON OF WILLIAM & HANNAH ELLIS TINDALL (1855-1930), OF 10, BISHOP LANE, HULL. ONE OF SIX SONS AND TWO MARRIED SISTERS. BEFORE THE WAR, HE WORKED AS A WAREHOUSE LABOURER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 253, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED AS LANCE CORPORAL, 33461, 9TH YORKSHIRE HUSSARS. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 20/9/1917, AGED 25. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL, BELGIUM.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON ST MARY’S CHURCH MEMORIAL, LOWGATE. WITH HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, 17781, CHRISTOPHER BELL TINDALL, 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WHO WAS KILLED AT THE SOMME, ON 14/07/1916, AGED 22.

ANOTHER BROTHER, JOHN TINDALL, 27TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY, WAS DISCHARGED WOUNDED, ON 31/07/1917 AND DIED IN 1924, AGED 38.
