BORN HULL 1894. TWIN SON OF MARY ELLEN FLEMING (1861-1928) AND JOHN EDWARD WALKER (1861-1910), OF 343, ANLABY ROAD, HULL. ONE OF ELEVEN CHILDREN, INCLUDING EIGHT SONS (SEVEN SERVED IN THE ARMY). THREE SONS DIED IN THE WAR ALL DURING 1918. HIS FATHER WAS A CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT.
HE WAS EDUCATED AT HYMER’S COLLEGE, HULL, LIKE ALL HIS BROTHERS.
HE HAD TRAVELLED TO NEW ZEALAND IN 1911. HE WAS COMMISSIONED INTO THE 1/4TH GLOUCESTER REGIMENT. ATTACHED TO THE 7TH ROYAL WEST KENT REGIMENT WHEN HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 04/04/1918, AGED 24. COMMEMORATED ON THE POZIERES MEMORIAL, FRANCE.
HIS NAME IS RECORDED ON HYMERS SCHOOL WW1 , MEMORIAL & ST MATTHEWS CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR, BOULEVARD, ALONG WITH HIS THREE BROTHERS. THEY INCLUDED HIS TWIN BROTHER, TROOPER, HAROLD WALKER, 1ST EAST RIDING YEOMANRY, WHO DIED AT ETAPLES, FRANCE, ON 19/06/1918, AGED 24. ALSO HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, 2ND LIEUTENANT, JOHN CYRIL WALKER, ROYAL FLYING CORPS, KILLED AT CAMBRAI, ON 18/10/1918, AGED 18.
