JOHN WILKIN WARD WAS A DECK HANDON THE STEAM SHIP “INDUSTRIA”. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 22/05/1918. HE WAS BROTHER TO EDWARD, ARTHUR, HARRY & FLORRIE. HE LEFT A DEPENDENT MOTHER, MARTHA WARD AT 131 WATERSIDE ROAD, BARTON ON HUMBER. (PENSION ADDRESS). THERE ARE NO CWGC RECORDS OF THIS DEATH. THE REST OF THE CREW ARE RECORDED ON THE TOWER HILL, NAVAL MEMORIAL, LONDON.
INDUSTRIA’, was built by Cook, Welton and Gemmell Ltd, Hull, 1887. It was sunk in the North Sea. On 21st March 1917, she was stopped by UC-75 (Oberleutnant zur See Johannes Lohs) and sunk by opening the scuttles off Scotland. Crew not recovered from the lifeboats; all 9 lost.
