BORN HULL 16/07/1892. SON OF CHARLES WATERMAN AND LAVINIA MINNS (1873-1949). SON OF A SEAMAN. HE WAS BETTER KNOWN AS “JACK ROWNTREE”, HIS GRANDFATHER’S NAME WHO RAISED HIM. PRIOR TO WAR HE WORKED AT THE GROCERS ON NEWTON STREET, HULL.
HE MARRIED EVELYN BROOK, AT ST MARY’S CHURCH, DAIRYCOATES, ON 11/04/1915. HIS WIFE EVELYN (1894-1934) & ONE CHILD LIVED AT 6 PARK AVENUE, FLINTON STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS).
HE SERVED AS A DECKHAND, ON THE TRAWLER, ‘QUAIR’. LOST AT SEA, WITH ALL HANDS, ON 03/11/1916. HE WAS AGED 24. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 13TH DECEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. * HIS DEATH WAS ALSO REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON 6TH JANUARY 1917. *
