BORN 1892. THIRD SON OF JOHN WATTS ‘DEONIA’ HOUSE, OF HULL AND BRIDLINGTON. SON OF AN OIL BROKER. EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. HE WAS A PARTNER, IN HIS FATHER’S BUSINESS IN HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WHEN WAR BEGAN. WENT TO FRANCE IN APRIL 1916, AS A SECOND LIEUTENANT. PROMOTED TO STAFF CAPTAIN IN THE 92ND BRIGADE, AND THEN ACTING MAJOR, ATTACHED TO 93RD INFANTRY BRIGADE. HE WAS MORTALLY WOUNDED NEAR MESSINES RIDGE. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 01/10/1918, AGED 26. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 10/10/1918. (NO PHOTO).
