Born Hull 1876. Son of William Whittle & Kate (Blakey), of 24 Williamson Street, Hedon Road and 23 Pelham Street, Hull.
Husband of Eliza Whittle, at 2, Sydney Grove & at 5, Edward Terrace, Holmes Street, Fountain Road, Hull (War Pension address). A Labourer, by trade.
He enlisted in Hull. Served with the 3rd East Yorkshire Labour Battalion. Wounded in the head by a bullet at Lille, in October 1914. He died at home, on 23/10/1919, aged 43. Buried at Hull Northern Cemetery.
While in hospital at Boulogne, he wrote a letter to his mother, which was printed in the Hull and Lincolnshire Times, on 31/10/1914.
