BORN BEVERLEY 1872.  SON OF AUGUSTUS WILGEROTH (1837-1883) AND MARY JANE SULLIVAN (1842-1902).

A FORMER SOLDIER. HE SERVED IN THE BOER WAR. (HDM 04/09/1916) AND IN CIVILIAN LIFE HE WORKED AS A COOK AT THE LOCAL GAS WORKS. HE ALSO HAD SERVED PREVIOUSLY AS ABLE SEAMAN, GEORGE AUGUSTUS OWEN WILGEROTH, ROYAL NAVY.

HE MARRIED, ESTHER ANN HOGGARD (13/12/1873-1936), AT SCULCOATES, HULL, IN 1893, AGED 20. HIS WIFE & SIX CHILDREN LIVED AT 4, FLEET STREET, BEVERLEY ROAD, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. POSTED TO FRANCE ON 17/04/1915. PROMOTED TO CORPORAL. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 04/08/1916, AGED 44. HE IS BURIED AT CALAIS SOUTHERN CEMETERY, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 08/08/1916. *

HIS NAME IS INSCRIBED ON THE STONE PILLAR MEMORIAL, AT ST MARYS CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.
