Williamson, George Frederick

BORN HULL 1895. ORIGINAL HULL PAL. SON OF EMMA J.WILLIAMSON – 1 LESLIE AVENUE, SUBWAY STREET AND LATER THIS ADDRESS. HAVING BEEN GASSED AND WOUNDED GEORGE FREDERICK WILLIAMSON, DIED ON LEAVE FROM MUSHROOM POISONING. THE STORY WAS TOLD AT AN INQUEST HELD AT THE NAVAL HOSPITAL, HULL. HIS MOTHER STATED THAT GEORGE HAD BEEN IN HOSPITAL AT EASTBOURNE AND BRIGHTON AND RETURNED HOME ON LEAVE AROUND MID NOVEMBER 1916. HE COMPLAINED OF FEELING SICKLY. HIS SISTER HAD FRIED SOME ‘BLUE STALK’ MUSHROOMS FOR HIM. LATER HE BECAME VERY ILL AND WAS ADMITTED TO THE NAVAL HOSPITAL, WHERE HE DIED. DOCTOR, JAMES GRIEVES DIAGNOSED DEATH BY FUNGUS POISONING.
