Worner, Walter Victor

BORN HULL 02/07/1896. SON OF HENRY (HARRY) WORNER (1861-1923) AND SUSANNAH DODSWORTH (1861-1904), OF 2, YORK STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).  HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. THE LARGE FAMILY LIVED AT 221, WINCOLMLEE, HULL (NAVAL ADDRESS) & 2, YORK STREET, HULL. A FORMER LABOURER.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 10/05/1915. SERVED AS AN ABLE SEAMAN, IN THE ROYAL NAVY DIVISION, WHICH WERE SURPLUS SAILORS USED AS INFANTRYMEN. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, 04/07/1916, TWO DAYS AFTER HIS 20TH BIRTHDAY.

HE IS BURIED AT TRANCHEE DE MECKNES CEMETERY, AIX-NOULETTE, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.

Note: He left army effects – 1 savings bank book, 2 testaments, 1 writing pad, 3 photos, numerous letters. Served as Able Seaman, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Tyneside Z/6669 Nelson Bn R N Division. Buried Aix-Noulette, Departement du Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France, Grave G.9.
