BORN HULL 1883. SON OF HENRY GRASBY WRIGHT (1854-1904) & KATE BRADBURY WRIGHT (1859-1926), OF 66 BRIDLINGTON STREET, FOUNTAIN ROAD, HULL (ARMY ADDRESS). HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. WAS ONE OF THREE SONS LOST IN THE WAR.
THE FAMILY LIVED AT 5 WATERHOUSE LANE, HULL (1911 CENSUS), WHERE THEY RAN A TOBACCONIST BUSINESS. HE MARRIED WINIFRED HIGGINS AT HULL, IN 1915, HIS WIFE, WINIFRED WRIGHT, LIVED 6 WAKEFIELD STREET, HULL. (HDM 03/10/18).
HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL, IN THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/09/1918, AGED 35. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE VIS-EN- ARTOIS MEMORIAL, FRANCE AND RECORDED ON THE COTTINGHAM WAR MEMORIAL.
HE LEFT BROTHER, GUNNER, HENRY STANLEY WRIGHT (1891-1955), WHO SERVED IN THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY, AND SISTERS, GERTRUDE AND VIOLET.
HIS BROTHER, PERCY GRASBY WRIGHT (1888-1915), WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 03/05/1915, AGED 27.
HIS OTHER BROTHER, SERGEANT, CHARLES WILLIAM WRIGHT (1894-1916), 4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 26/02/1916, AGED 22.
