BORN ABERDEEN 1893. SON OF GEORGE AND ELLEN WRIGHT. HIS FATHER WAS A FISHERMAN. HIS MOTHER, ELLEN, WAS BORN IN HULL AND LIVED AT 60, MARMADUKE STREET, HULL. HE SERVED IN THE MERCHANT NAVY AS A MARINE FIREMAN. HE MARRIED EMILY FRANCES SPINK (1896-1981), FROM 6 EDGAR STREET, HULL, AT ST BARNABAS CHURCH, HESSLE ROAD, ON 21/06/1914. THEY HAD A SON GEORGE, BORN IN 1915. HE SERVED AS SECOND ENGINEER, ON THE STEAMSHIP “CELIA”. DROWNED AT SEA ON THE 8TH JANUARY 1915, AGED 21. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL TIMES 06/02/1915, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE EDGAR STREET SHRINE AND ALSO RECORDED ON THE WILSON LINE CRICKET & ATHLETIC CLUB’S ROLL OF HONOUR.. HIS WIDOW, EMILY REMARRIED AT HULL, ON 29/10/1917, AND HAD THREE MORE CHILDREN.

On January 8th, 1915, the British trawler CELIA went missing in the North Sea. She was not heard of ever since and was probably sunk by enemy action. 9 crew lost their lives.
