Son of Henry and Rose Mowthorpe, of Londesborough, York. Lived in Hull and Beverley, where he worked as a Bricklayer. He enlisted in Hull. Killed in action. His army effects were left to his father. His name is recorded on the East Riding Royal Engineer Memorial at Hull Minster.
