BORN HULL 1894. SON OF JOSEPH JOHN HORSFALL (1867-1936) & AGNES ISABELL OWENS (1866-1947), OF 23 GEE STREET, HULL AND 22 KING’S BENCH STREET, HULL. SON OF A RAILWAY GOODS FOREMAN. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS, GEORGE AND HERBERT AND ONE SISTER, AGNES. EDUCATED AT THE BOULEVARD SECONDARY SCHOOL. BEFORE THE WAR HE WAS AN APPRENTICE CARPENTER & SHIP BUILDER AT THE RED CROSS FISHING COMPANY, ST ANDREWS DOCK.

HE ENLISTED IN THE ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL CORPS, DURING SEPTEMBER 1914. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 20/04/1915. HE WAS AWARDED THE MILITARY MEDAL FOR RESCUING WOUNDED IN 1917. HE WAS TAKEN PRISONER ON 27TH MAY 1918. HE WAS REMOVED DEAD FROM THE AMBULANCE TRAIN (NO:39), ON 23RD SEPTEMBER 1918, AGED 24. HE IS BURIED AT TERLINCTHUN BRITISH CEMETERY, WIMILLE, FRANCE.

HE IS RECORDED ON ST MATTHEWS CHURCH ROLL OF HONOUR & WENLOCK BARRACKS ROH. HIS PHOTOGRAPH WAS PRINTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 19TH AUGUST 1919. *

HIS BROTHER, CAPTAIN, HERBERT TREVOR HORSFALL 91892-1951), ROYAL WELSH FUSILIERS, ATTACHED TO THE 38TH TRENCH MORTAR BATTERY, WAS AWARDED THE MILITARY CROSS, ON 20/09/1917.
