BORN HULL 1890. KNOWN AS ‘PHIL’. YOUNGEST SON OF HENRY WILLIAMS (1840-1911) & MARY JANE SLOAN (1849-1937). ONE OF TEN CHILDREN, LIVING AT 4, MAYFIELD STREET, HULL. HIS FATHER WAS AN ARMY SERGEANT MAJOR.
HE WAS EMPLOYED AS AN INSURANCE CLERK. HE MARRIED MARY MAY MACKEY, IN DECEMBER 1916, AT NEWCASTLE.
HIS WIFE LIVED AT 4, MYRTLE VILLAS, MAYFIELD STREET.
HE ENLISTED IN THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT AND WAS PROMOTED THROUGH ABILITY. HE TRANSFERRED TO THE RIFLE CORPS AS AN OFFICER. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON THE 10TH APRIL 1917, AGED 26. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 21ST APRIL 1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
HE LEFT £229 IN HIS WILL TO HIS WIDOW, MARY, WHO LIVED AT THIS PROBATE ADDRESS. HE IS BURIED HIBERS TRENCH, WANCOURT, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE
