Born Hull 1887. Only son of Frederick Mace (1854-1922) and Rose Ann Bolton (1857-1938). He had one sister, Alice. Worked for Messrs. CH Pickles, Wholesale Newsagents, at 17 Jarret Street, Hull. Lived with his mother at 32 Seaton Street, Fountain Road, Hull (War Pension Address). He was a shop assistant before the war (1911 Census)
He enlisted at Hull. Served with the 6th Northumberland Fusiliers. Killed in action, at the Somme, on 15/09/1916, aged 27. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 13/10/1916. *
