2nd Lieut, George Stainforth, 13th King’s Liverpool Regiment

Born Hull, 1891. Youngest son of James (1854-1931) and Elizabeth Jane Stainforth (1857-1927), of 4, John St., Hull; He was a student at the Church of England Training College, Swindon Road, Cheltenham (1911 Census).

Worked as a Hull Teacher.

He married Ann Milner McKay (1894-1968), at Sculcoates, Hull, in 1916. Husband of Ann Milner Towle (formerly Stainforth), of St. Chad, Barrow-on-Humber, Lincs.

Served as Second Lieutenant, with the 13th The King’s (Liverpool Regiment). Killed in action, on 14/07/1916, aged 25. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing on the Somme. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 16/07/1917. *

He left £27 to Ann Milner Stainforth, his widow, at this Probate Address.
