Born York, 1895. Son of Ricard Metcalfe (1861-1909) and Alice Mary Beak (1865-1954).
Husband of Everlyn Metcalfe, of 38 Eastbourne Street, Hull. Before joining the army, he was employed by Rowntree’s, in York and Hull.
A former Reservist. He served as a Sergeant, in the 59th Machine Gun Corps. Killed in action, on 18/04/1918, aged 23.
His death was reported in the Hull daily Mail, on 23/05/1918. *
His name is recorded on the WW1 memorial, St John The Baptist Church, Newington, Hull.
