Thrustle, Walter Percy

Born Hull 1884. Son of the late William and Jane Thrustle, of 33, Model Dwellings, Midland Street, Hull. A Town Postman. Described as 5 foot, 9 inches tall, 39-41 inch chest. He had three sisters who lived at home and one elder brother, Joseph Thrustle, who lived at 12 Brunswick Avenue, Hull. He joined the Postal Service in 1905 & worked as a Postman.

Enlisted 25/10/1915. Served as Gunner, 382293, 2nd East Riding, Royal Garrison Artillery. Posted to France, on 19/09/1917. Gassed on 09/04/1918. Returned to England on 11/04/1918. Discharged with 50% gas wounds, on 26/11/1918, after 3 years and 343 days service. Died of Broncho Pneumonia, on 21/10/1921, aged 37.
