Born Sunderland, 26/12/1894. Second son of James Brotherston and Jeannie Henderson, of Sunderland and 23, Askew Avenue, Hull (War Pension address). Educated in Sunderland.
Enlisted at Durham on 06/09/1914. Served in te 1/7th Durham Light Infabtry. Died of wounds, on 05/05/1915, aged 21. Buried Boulogne, France.
His photo was published in the De Ruviney Roll of Honour, page 55.
