Born Hayton, Pocklington, Yorkshire, 1888. Son of James and Sarah Frear of Hayton, Yorkshire. The fourth of five sons. He worked as a Waggoner, on Clock Mill Farm Pocklington (1911 Census) and was living in Hull in 1915. He enlisted in Hull. Served as Gunner in the “B” Bty. 251st Bde., Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action, on 19/05/1917, aged 29. Buried in France.
