Born Thornton, Pocklington, Yorkshire, 1897. Youngest Son of Mark Rooke (1861-1897) and Christina Sutton (1869-1931), of 18, Hawthorn Terrace, New Earswick, Yorkshire. He had two older brothers and a sister. A Farm Labourer.
He enlisted in Hull. Served as a Gunner with the 317th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Died of wounds, at the 64th Casualty Clearing Station, on 10/11/1917, aged 20.
