Born Hornsea, 1897. Youngest son of Joseph Samuel Stephenson, of Rise Terrace, Hornsea, Yorkshire, and the late Ada Stephenson. Son of a builder. He had three brothers and four sisters. He enlisted in Hull. Served with the Royal Field Artillery, “A” Bty. 223rd Bde. Died of wounds on 06/05/1917, aged 20.
His army effects were left to his father, Joseph. Buried at Etaples Military Cemetery, France. His grave inscription, reads, HE SLEEPS WITH ENGLAND’S HEROES IN THE WATCHFUL CARE OF GOD
