Born Barton-on-Humber, 1893. Son of Hodgson and Ada Grassby, of 6, Pasture Road, Barton On Humber, Lincolnshire (war pension address). He had one brother and two sisters. Worked as a Cycle Mechanic.
He enlisted in Hull, on 13th November 1915. Served with the 7th East Yorkshire Regiment, “C” Company. Posted to France, on 6th July 1916. Killed in action, on 11/10/1918, aged 25. He had served in the army for 2 years and 333 days.
Buried at Montay-Neuvilly Road Cemetery, France. his grave reads, THY WILL BE DONE
