Battams, William George

Born Great Brickhill, Buckinghamshire, 1897. Son of Edmund John Edward Battams (1871-1926) and Mary Ann Robinson (1876-1956), of Dringhoe, Church Lane, Beeford, Driffield. He had six brothers and five sisters. Farm Servant for Farmer Henry Ullyott at Lane End Farm, Gembling, Driffield (1911 Census).

He enlisted in Hull. Formerly 4278, East Yorkshire Regiment. Transferred to the Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), 63rd Bn. Attached to the Royal Naval Division. Killed in action, on 26/08/1918, aged 21.
