Enlisted in Hull. Husband of Elizabeth Benning, at 82, Beverley Road, Hull (war pension address). They had three sons and two daughters.

Posted to France on 4/9/1915. Served in the Royal Horse Artillery, and 16th King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Killed in action, on 29/09/1918, aged 37. Commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, France. His army effects were left to his mother, Caroline,brothers, James, Russell, and Richard, and sisters, Isabell, Caroline and Mary J.
