Charlton, Charles

Born Ottringham, Yorkshire, 1897. Youngest son of Peter and Maria Charlton, of Battery Cottage, Paull, Hull (War Pension address). He had three brothers and two sisters and worked as a farm, servant, in Roos (1911 Census)

He enlisted in Beverley. Formerly 5805, Northumberland Fusiliers. Transferred to the 1/4th King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Died of wounds, on 24/07/1917, aged 20. His army effects were left to his mother, Maria.

He is buried at Mont Huon Military Cemetery, France. His three older brothers also served in the war.
