Married on 2 Feb 1907, at Dewsbury, All Saints, Yorkshire. His wife, Elizabeth Ellen Senior (born 20/3/1896), lived at, 62, Pulman Street, Hull (War Pension address).
He enlisted at Leicester. Served with the 7th Leicestershire Regiment. Killed at Arras, on 31/08/1916. Commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France. (CWGC records). His Pension records report that he served with the South Staffordshire Regiment.
His army effects were left to his widow, Elizabeth Ellen. She remarried and became Mrs Young.
His brother, Priavet, Reuben Smith, 25011, Labour Corps, died of wounds, on 20/03/1918.
