Mulligan, Anthony

Born Hull, 1884. Son of Anthony Mulligan and Emma Mulligan at 19, Bromley Street, Hull  (1911 Census) and 14, Jennings Street, The Groves, Hull. His mother was widowed. He had two brothers and two sisters. Worked as a Boilerman and Dock Labourer. described as 5 foot, 7.5 inches tall, 134 lbs weight, 36-39 inch chest, dark complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, tatoos both arms, Church of England Religion.

Enlisted at Scarborogh on 11 Oct 1904, in the 3rd EYR. Served under the name of Fred Parker. Was tried and imprisoned for desertion and misconduct.

Re-enlisted when war began, serving under his real name Anthony Mulligan. Served with  the Royal Garrison Artillery. He deserted at Sheerness, Kent, on 24 March 1915 and was imprisoned again. Returned to service, on 24 August 1917. Served with the 160th & 2nd Siege Battery, RGA.  He was discharged on 14 Aug 1918, with bronchitis in 1918. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: 434956). He had overf 13 years military service, but much of this was forfeited due to bad behaviour. His army character was described as “Very Bad”.

He died in Hull in 1925, aged 40.

He married LucyBrown, at St mary’s Catholic Church, on 5 Sep 1914. He married under the name, Fred Parker. Lucy lived at 1, Howe Street, The Groves, Hull and 11, Sidney Terrace, Spyvee Street, Hull (War pension addresses)
