Born Knottingley, Yorks, 1883. Only Son of the late Edward and Lily Stogden, of The Croft, Knottingley, Yorkshire. He had two sisters. His mother Lily Stogden moved to 141, Sculcoates Lane, Hull (war pension address). He was a Glass Worker.
He enlisted at Pontefract. Served in the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, “A” Coy. 10th Bn. Killed in action on 1st July 1916, aged 32. He is commemrated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
His army effects were left to his mother, Lily.
