Born Hull, 1881. Son of James Arthur Atkins and Alice Elizabeth Skinner. he had two brothers and two sisters.
Married Harriet Douglas (at St Silas Church, Hull on 9 July 1905. Husband of Harriet Atkins, of 397, Wincolmlee, Hull (Army Address) and 13, Kingston Terrace, Cumberland Street, Hull (war pension address). They had two daughters, Alice and Eve.
Worked as an enamel maker for Storry Smithsons & Co, Hull. Also Served 5 years with the East Riding Volunteers. Described as 5 foot, 3.5 inches tall, 36-39 inch chest, normal vision, normal physical development.
Enlisted at Hull on 13 Aug 1914. Posted to France, on 19 April 1915. Served on the 8th Coy, Royal Army Medical Corps (Territorial Force). Returned to England on 24 Oct 1916. Discharged with Bronchitis (30% Disability) on 6 Aug 1919. Served 4 years and 267 days in the army. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: B319789). Died in Hull, on 2 Apr 1926, aged 45.
His elder brother, James William Atkins, 84676, Royal Army Medical Corps, was also discharged with sickness, on 17 Sep 1919
