Bland, Nelson

Born Jalifax, 1898. Son of Walter and Jane Bland, of 368 Queens Road Halifax (1911 census). he had two elder brothers and three younger sisters. He worked with his family in the yarn and cotton factories of Halifax.

Husband of Lily, of 368, Queens Road, Halifax and 20, Parrott Street, Hull (War pension address). They had a son, Walter, born on 22/7/1917, a week before Nelson’s death.

He enlisted in Halifax. Served in the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding Regiment), 1st/7th Bn. Killed in action, on 29/07/1917, aged 19. He is buried in Belgium

His brother, Private, Arnold Bland, 11051, 18th West Riding Regiment was killed at Gallipoli, on 21 Aug 1915
