Born 1897 Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. Son of Alexander and Margaret Carr, of 51, Victoria Road, Kirkcaldy and 7, Hymer Grove, West Parade, Spring Bank, Hull (War Pension address).
A Labourer. Described as 5 foot, 7 inches tall, 147 lbs weight, 35-37.5 inch chest, grey eyes, black hair, dark complexion, Presbytarian religion.
He enlisted at Kilcaldy, on 2/9/1914. Served with the 2nd Gordon Highlanders. Posted to France, on 25/5/1915. Wounded in right thigh on 25/9/1915. Invalided to UK. Returned to France and wounded in the left thigh, on 27/4/1916. Returned to England and back to France again. Buried by a gas shell which landed on the trench parapet, on 15th June 1917. Wounded in the jaw, knees, hand and gassed at the same time. Discharged as unfit for any service, of any kind, on 13/1/1918. He had served in the army for 3 years and 134 days service.
Died of wounds, on 31/07/1918. aged 21. Buried at Dysart Cemetery, Kirkcaldy, United Kingdom
