Wainman, Arthur

Born Laxton/Saltmarshe, Howden, East Yorkshire, 1889. Younger son of Emmanuel Wiles Wainman (1861-1938) and Grace Bowes (1858-1931), of 2, Rosedene Villas, Raglan Street, Hull (War Pension address). He worked with his father as a platelayer for the local railway.

He enlisted at Goole. Served with the 8th King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Killed in action, on 1 Jul 1916, aged 27.

Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France. His army effects were left to his father, Emmanuel.
