Born Market Weighton, Yorkshire, 1893. Son of George Baker (1864-1912) and Sarah Sanderson (1868-1912), of 16, Derby Street, Thornaby-on-Tees, Yorkshire (CWGC address). He had four brothers and two sisters. An apprentice printer living at 11 Hibernia St Thornaby On Tees (1911 census).
He enlisted at Stockton. Served with the 2nd Yorkshire Hussars (Alexandra, Princes of Wales’ Own). Killed in action on 14 Oct 1916, aged 23. Buried at Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers, France.
