Born Beverley, 1893. Son of Samuel Girbow (1860-1921) and Mary Elizabeth Elvidge, of 13, Minster Terrace, Moorgate, Beverley (war pension address). Son of a Tanner’s Labourer. He had four brothers, Thomas, Arthur, Fred and Albert and three sisters, Bertha, Florence & Eva.
Enlisted at Beverley. Served with the 27th Battalion (Tyneside Irish), Northumberland Fusiliers. Died on 07/05/1917, aged 23. His army effects were left to his father, Samuel.
Buried at Wimereaux Communal Cemetery, France.
He is commemorated on the Beverley WW1 Memorial as T Girbow.
