Drewery, Herbert

Born Riplingham, Yorkshire, 22/1/1895. Son of Thomas and Jane Drewery, of Wold House, South Newbald, Brough, Yorkshire, Lund, Beverley, East Yorkshire and later Middleton-on-the Wolds, Driffield, East Yorkshire.

He was a Motor Driver before the war.

Served as Able Seaman, Tyneside Z/8396, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Howe Bn. 63rd Royal Navy Division.

Enlisted 8/11/15 ; Draft for BEF (Lewis Gunner) 10/7/16, joined Howe Bn. 19/11/16-17/2/17 GSW left thigh, Invalided to UK 28/2/17 ; Draft for BEF 18/10/17, joined Howe Bn. 13/11/17-30/12/17 wounded.

Died of wounds, on 02/01/1918, aged 22. Died of wounds in 3rd Stationary Hospital Rouen (GSW left leg & left thigh, compound fracture Femur 30/12/17)

Buried at St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.
