Born Castleford, Yorkshire, 1899. Son of Thomas and Eliza Mattinson of 17 Church Street Castleford Yorkshire (1911 Census), 25, Queens Street, Castleford and 9, Grosvenor Place, Beverley (war pension addresses). Son of a Furniture Dealer. He had three brothers and two sisters.
Enlisted at Beverley. Served in the 15th Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment). Died of wounds, on 23 Apr 1918, aged 19. His army effects were left to his father, Thomas
