Born 1872 Grangegeeth Cross Roads, Tyrone, Ireland. Son of John Scott, of 5, Cecil Place, Porta Down, Armagh.
Married at Hull on 24 April 1916. Husband of Lilian May Burgess Smedley, of 108, Keldgate, Beverley and 5, Minster Terrace, Moorgate, Beverley, East Yorkshire (war Pension address).
He was a baker in civilian Life. Described as 5 foot, 6.5 inches tall, 137 lbs weight, 35 inch chest, brown eyes, black hair, scar on back of his head, wearing a plate with two false teeth, Church of England religion, “Very Good” Character in his army records.
He enlisted in the 3rd East Yorkshire Regiment on 30 Jan 1895 and served for 22 years, including 10 years in India. Served with the 2nd East Yorkshire Regiment (Depot). Discharged on 29 Jan 1917. Died on 04/10/1918, aged 46.
