Born Brentford, Middlesex, 24 May 1885. Parents deceased. He was the nephew of his Aunt, Emily Collins of 7, Tower Street, Harrogate, Yorkshire.
A Soap Maker, he joined the army, in 1904. He enlisted at London and served eight years with the 1st Northumberland Fusiliers, including India between 1909-1912. He had taken part in much frontier fighting and was awarded a medal. He was also one of the best shots in the regiment. He remained an army reservist when his time expired.
In civilian life, he was a Policemen, who served with the East Riding Constabulary from Sept 1912.
Mobilized when war began. Posted to France, on 19 Sept 1914. Served with the 1st Northumberland Fusiliers. Killed in action on 20 Oct 1914, aged 29.
His army effects were left to his dependent Aunt, Emily Collins at 57, Widdoshaw Road, Woodlands, Harrogate, Yorkshire
He is buried at CABARET-ROUGE BRITISH CEMETERY, SOUCHEZ, FRANCE
