Boyes, Fred

Born Beverley, Yorkshire, 1880. Son of Alfred Boyes (1851-1897) and Phoebe Ann Johnson (1857-1939), of 17, Wilbert Grove, Beverley; He had three brothers and four sisters.

Married at Beverley in 1909. He worked as a Merchant’s Clerk.

Husband of Nellie Jameson Boyes (1881-1973), of 54, Grovehill Road., Beverley, now of 45, Stanley Street, New Clee, Grimsby. They had three children.

Enlisted at Beverley. Served in the 9th King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Died of wounds, on 27 Mar 1918, aged 38. Buried ST. SOUPLET BRITISH CEMETERY, France.

His brother Private, Arthur Boyes 2456/240727, 8th Yorkshire Regiment, was killed on, 20 Jul 1917, aged 20.

Both brothers are commemorated together on the Beverley WW1 Memorial.
